FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. WHERE IS YOUR OFFICE LOCATED?
Our office is located at 1500 Terrace Dr. Brownwood, Tx 76801


2. HOW MANY HOUSING PROGRAMS DO YOU OFFER?
We have two programs through our office:

  • PUBLIC HOUSING PROGRAM: Apartments located at Sunset Terrace as well as 6 other complexes that the Housing Authority owns. We do have a waiting list for this program.

  • SECTION 8 VOUCHER PROGRAM: A rent subsidy program where once approved, you are able to go out into the community and find housing and we will assist you with rent. This program also has a waiting list.


3. HOW LONG IS THE WAITING LIST?
The Section 8 waiting list is somewhere between 2-6 months. The Public Housing waiting list is according to bedroom size - ranging from 2 months to a year.


4. DO YOU HAVE ANY AVAILABLE APARTMENTS?
We work off of a waiting list. You must fill out an application for our programs.


5. WHAT ARE YOUR OFFICE HOURS:
The office doors are open to the public from 9:00am-4:00pm. We are closed every Friday and are open through lunch.


6. DO YOU HAVE ANY JOB OPENINGS?
When we have job openings, we go through Personnel Services or Demand Staff. Please check there for any openings.


7. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME FOR AN APPLICATION?
You must bring 1) Birth Certificate, 2) Social Security Card and 3) Proof of income (this includes Social Security and Child Support)
